Dean Gillian Lester sent a message to the Columbia Law community following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to ban the use of affirmative action in college admissions.

The U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York will address the Class of 2023 during Columbia Law’s Class Day ceremony on May 15.

Citing the importance of pursuing our core scholarly, pedagogical, and programmatic objectives without constraints, Dean Gillian Lester announces that Columbia Law School will no longer submit data to the U.S. News & World Report annual ranking of best law schools. 

Columbia Law School alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago gathered in person once again on October 6.

The first Lawyers, Community, and Impact discussion of the 2022–2023 academic year featured faculty discussing various areas of the law through the lens of Supreme Court cases from the previous term. 

A distinguished scholar of international law, Cleveland would be the second U.S. woman to serve on the court.

Makalika Naholowa’a is executive director of Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation in Honolulu.

Through the new project, a team of scholars and experts will examine and propose legal frameworks for the management of international claims and reparations.

These exceptional scholars, teachers, and clinicians will build on the Law School’s continued excellence in both fundamental and emerging areas of the law. 

The five fellowship recipients—all members of the Class of 2023—are dedicated to pursuing careers in social and racial justice.
