The Italian Society

Italian legal tradition and culture, and comparative studies between US and Italian Law, does generate significant interest, including within the CLS community. The Italian Society caters to that interest, as well as to that in current Italian legal, political, and economic affairs, in particular by organizing and promoting academic, professional and social events within CLS.

Furthermore, the Italian Society wants to be a point of reference both for those CLS students (J.D., LL.M. and exchange alike) identifying with an Italian background and for those who would like to know more about what it stands for. In order to do so, the Italian Society organizes mentoring activities for new students, cultivates a network of Italian alumni and assists its members seeking or considering to undertake professional or academic experiences in Italy.

The Morningside Monocle

The Morningside Monocle, otherwise known as The Monocle, is Columbia Law School's student-run literary magazine. We publish poetry, prose, photography, and art by students from law school.

Transfer and Visiting Student Organization (TVSO)

The Transfer and Visiting Student Organization (TVSO) is open to all students. The organization is designed to ease the integration of transfer and visiting students into the Columbia Law School community.

Trauma-Informed Lawyering Columbia Law School Society

The Trauma-Informed Lawyering Society aims to provide students at Columbia Law School with opportunities to explore trauma-informed practice in the context of a variety of legal areas and engage in discussions, activities, and academic events focused on understanding and learning the application of trauma-informed approaches in professional practice. The primary goal of the group is to build a trauma-informed community at Columbia Law School.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is an IRS initiative designed to support free tax preparation services for underserved communities. The Columbia Law VITA chapter provides students with tax training and support to obtain their IRS certifications. Through partnerships with community organizations, student volunteers meet pro bono needs and promote financial empowerment in the local community.

Whiskey and Spirits Club

The Whiskey and Spirits Club is a student-founded organization dedicated to bringing members of the Law School together for a well-crafted glass of whiskey or cocktail. The Club’s membership is inclusive and all preferences—from Speyside single malts to Dominican rums—are welcome!
