Section Description
This course is an introduction to the law of property focusing on the nature of ownership as a source of rights in the American legal system and what those rights entail. Property law is a frequent source of private and public disputes and is also at the center of many important policy debates. Topics include: Acquisition, including by discovery, capture, creation, find, adverse possession, and gift; Property divisibility over time, among concurrent interest holders, between landlords and tenants, and between spouses; Servitudes, including both easements and covenants; Nuisance; Conveyancing and recordation; Rights involving the government, including zoning and takings.
