Section Description
Property is an institution that structures the allocation of resources in society. As a body of doctrine, property consists of rules and concepts that have evolved over centuries to coordinate and allocate rights in resources. The primary goal of this course is to familiarize students with this body of doctrine, while developing their skills in legal reasoning and analysis. This course will cover rules governing the initial acquisition of property; the scope of the basic rights of ownership and limits on these rights; the forms of ownership; the transfer of property over time and to multiple parties; and the coordination of interests of neighboring property owners.
