April 2, 2008 (NEW YORK) – The largest student-run law school event in the United States is the annual Deans' Cup co-ed basketball game played between students of Columbia Law School and New York University School of Law. More than 2,000 people are expected at this year’s, the seventh, when it is played at NYU on April 10.

The Deans' Cup raises the most money of any single event fundraiser at any American law school. Over the years it has raised more than half a million dollars for public interest programs at both Columbia and NYU.

The Deans' Cup also provides a glimpse into the secret sports lives of the professors of law, who at half-time they play a faculty game. Since first Deans' Cup game in 2002, Columbia Law School students have won two of the six games, while their professors have won four of theirs.
