Professor Gerrard Named Top Environmental Lawyer in New York

Best Lawyers, a legal publication, names Professor Gerrard the 2010 New York Environmental Lawyer of the Year.

New York, Nov. 20, 2009Michael Gerrard, Director of the Columbia Law School Center for Climate Change Law, has been named the 2010 New York Environmental Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers, a legal publication.
 
Best Lawyers compiles its lists by conducting peer-review surveys where lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers. The current edition of The Best Lawyers in America is based on more than 2.8 million evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.
Before joining the Law School faculty this year, Gerrard had established through three decades of practice a reputation as one of the nation’s top environmental lawyers and is recognized as a leading expert in the emerging field of climate-change law.
 
Gerrard most recently served as managing partner of the New York office of Arnold & Porter, where he remains senior counsel.
 
Gerrard will attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen next month as part of the Columbia University delegation, and will comment on the proceedings on the Center’s Facebook and Twitter feeds.
