Enhanced LRAP Fellowships are awarded to Columbia Law School J.D. graduates who have demonstrated dedication to and exceptional promise for leadership in public interest law. These fellowships cover all loans up to the cost of law school tuition for fellows whose annual income does not exceed $100,000. They include the Lowenstein Fellowship, Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossman LLP Fellowship, and Berger Fellowship.
In 2026, Columbia Law School is offering the Berger Fellowship and the Lowenstein Fellowship. The deadline to apply is for 2026 is June 14, 2026. The fellowships are open to:
1) Members of the Columbia Law School J.D. Class of 2026 graduating in October 2025, February 2026, or May 2026, but see the exception below.
2) Members of the Columbia Law School Classes of 2025, 2024, and 2023 who are currently clerking for a federal or state judge as their first postgraduate employment, but see the exception below.
Exception: Do not apply if you are a member of the Class of 2026 who will be serving a clerkship in 2026-2027 or a current clerk who has committed to serving another clerkship at the end of your present position. Rather, graduates who meet either criterion may apply in the spring before the end of their clerkships.
This fellowship is administered by the Office of Public Interest/Public Service Law and Careers (the PI/PS Office).
