Antitrust and Trade Regulation

This course examines the major components of federal antitrust law, including Sections 1 and 2 of the Sherman Act, the Clayton Act, and the FTC Act. The course maintains a particular focus on litigation strategy and understanding the current state of play in complex antitrust litigation. An ongoing challenge for the law is determining how new technology should be taken into account in applying traditional antitrust principles, and we will discuss some of the recent litigation brought against Google and Apple. Recent years have seen a renewed focus on the application of antitrust to labor and financial markets, and the course covers these topics as well. Finally, we will cover merger litigation.
