Section Description
This seminar will involve an in-depth and interdisciplinary examination of the U.S. Presidency, studying its constitutional foundations and contemporary debates over the scope of presidential power. In addition to case law and legal scholarship, the readings will include leading political science and historical accounts of the presidency and its evolution over time. We will address several current legal issues surrounding the presidency such as unitary executive theory, impoundments, and the President's war and foreign affairs powers.
