Section Description

For students who have completed the year-long Human Rights Clinic, the Advanced Human Rights Clinic provides the opportunity to deepen engagement with the clinic's project work, further develop the wide range of skills necessary to be strategic and creative human rights advocates, critically analyze human rights, and work to advance the human rights methodologies of the clinic and the field. Advanced Clinic students will continue their work on clinic projects addressing marginalized, urgent, and complex human rights issues around the world, and will take on even greater leadership responsibility for advancing the work of project teams, including through being provided specialized leadership mentoring. Advanced Clinic students will also be given the opportunity to contribute to multiple clinic projects to further develop distinct skills and substantive expertise. A course of advanced study will be designed and tailored to the specific learning goals identified by each Advanced Clinic student in consultations with instructors. Advanced Clinic students will contribute to the development of, and participate in, specific seminar sessions of the Human Rights Clinic, facilitating the growth and learning opportunities of their peers, and will work with the Clinic instructors on Clinic-wide policies and reform. Instruction will occur in weekly project team meetings, in seminar classes, and in regularly scheduled tutorials with the instructors.
