Section Description
The course will explore a range of philosophic issues, raised by Jurisprudence and Moral and Political Philosophy, about what the law is and should be. Topics would include the edges of law, obligation to obey the law, civil disobedience, natural law, natural rights and "human" rights, just punishment, public reasons as the basis for law, and the range of appropriate claims of conscience for exemptions from ordinary legal requirements.
