“The goal is to stimulate discussion and explore macro and micro issues related to changes in the global capital markets, and the impact of new forms of corporate ownership, on corporate governance,” said Ira M. Millstein, co-chair of the Millstein Center Advisory Board. “We are especially delighted to be able to come together at our new home at Columbia Law School in the business and financial capital of the world—New York City.”

The two-day event is the first forum by the Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership since it moved to Columbia Law School from Yale School of Management. Sessions will feature leading experts from the field of corporate governance, including Columbia Law School Professors John C. Coffee Jr., Center Co-Chairs Jeffrey N. Gordon and Robert J. Jackson Jr., and representatives from leading companies and institutional investors such as Microsoft, Estee Lauder, Pfizer, PepsiCo, Pershing Square, CalPERS, TIAA-CREF, and many others.

Discussions will focus on a variety of topics of interest, including: shareholder primacy, changing patterns of corporate ownership, whether ratings agencies serve the needs of investors and corporations, and curbing cross-border corruption.

The forum will feature five plenary sessions, six smaller topic-specific breakout sessions, a Gala Dinner, and a reception honoring recipients of the Rising Stars of Corporate Governance Award, which honors corporate governance professionals under the age of 40 who are making their mark as outstanding analysts, experts, directors, managers, or advocates. The keynote speaker will be Sheila Bair, former chair of the FDIC.
