New York, March 26, 2014—Who needs the NCAA? March Madness descended on Columbia University’s Levien Gymnasium Tuesday night when Columbia Law School defeated NYU School of Law 74-56 in the 13th annual Deans’ Cup basketball game in front of a raucous crowd of students, faculty, staff, friends, and other fans whose tickets raised money for public interest programs at both schools.
It was Columbia Law School’s first Deans’ Cup win since 2008. Last year, NYU overcame the Law School’s team with a three-point shot in the final seconds of the game.
Tuesday’s match raised more than $25,000. A list of players, organizers, coordinators, coaches and supporters can be found in the program.
During halftime, faculty members from both schools suited up in gym clothes and showed off their moves on the hardwood. Columbia Law School’s faculty team bested their downtown peers in a friendly but intense mini-game.
