The Law of Capitalism and How to Transform It With Katharina Pistor
Watch: The Columbia Law professor discusses her recent book and how the capitalist legal system makes some people more equal than others.
In The Law of Capitalism and How to Transform It, Katharina Pistor, Edwin B. Parker Professor of Law, explores strategies for rethinking the law and the economy to create a superior and more socially equitable system. “I happen to believe that the system is not sustainable, so we have to think about something new,” she says. “You can't ever create a tabula rasa. You can never say, we start from scratch. You have to think about how you can internally, through the system itself, create something new.”
In the video above, part of the Professors in Print series, Pistor shares her ideas for some of the incremental ways to effect change in the system of capitalism.
