Kernochan Center Holds Panel With Young Alums in IP

January 22, 2008 (NEW YORK) – Columbia Law School’s Kernochan Center for Law, Media and the Arts will host its annual panel, ``Young Alumni in Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law,’’ on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Four recent Columbia Law School graduates will speak about their careers and give advice to current students interested in pursuing a career in these fields.

SPEAKERS: Wendy Szymanski ’03, an Associate in the Litigation Department at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP whose practice focuses on communications, media and information technologies, newspapers and publishing, first amendment issues and intellectual property; Christopher J. Hamilton ’04, an Associate in the Litigation Department at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, whose practice focuses on media law and intellectual property; Lasherelle Morgan ’01, Associate Counsel at HBO; and Paul Gutman ’04, an associate at Carroll, Guido & Groffman LLP, one of New York’s preeminent boutique firms representing clients in all aspects of the music industry.

 

The Kernochan Center for Law, Media and the Arts was established to contribute to a broader understanding of the legal aspects of creative works of authorship, including their dissemination and use. The Center has encouraged the development of instruction at the Law School in topics such as intellectual property, copyright, trademarks, the regulation of electronic media, and problems arising from new communications technologies.
