Debates on the War with Iraq

On November 15, 2002, Richard Posner, Chief Judge of the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and George P. Fletcher, Columbia Law School debated "The Rights and Wrongs of Going to War." 

Richard Posner is the Chief Judge of the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School. According to Calvin Woodward of the New York Times Book Review, Richard Posner is "one of the nation's most influential thinkers.... He spearheaded the law and economics movement that has, in the eyes of many, revolutionized the entire legal enterprise...."

George Fletcher is the Cardozo Professor of Jurisprudence at Columbia Law School. His most recent book is titled, Romantics at War: Glory and Guilt in the Age of Terrorism. His previous book, Our Secret Constitution: How Lincoln Redefined American Democracy (2001), was designated by the American Association of Publishers as the best book on law published in 2001.
