15th Annual Bid for Justice PILF Auction

Every year, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of Columbia join together to bid on exciting and intriguing donations to raise money for the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF).  Whether you're the ultimate sports fan, in search of tickets to the hot new Broadway show, or in need of a new 60 GB iPod to store your massive music collection, the Bid for Justice Auction has something for you.

The 15th Annual Bid for Justice Auction, which will be held on March 1st in Low Memorial Library, is PILF’s largest fundraising event of the year. The funds raised by PILF provide essential financial support to the new Guaranteed Summer Funding program, first announced by Dean Schizer in January, which provides summer fellowships to all students working in the public interest. In addition to supporting the student fellowship program, the funds raised at the Auction are also used to award grants to local and national community organizations providing legal services to underserved populations. Since its inception in 1980, PILF has provided summer funding to students working at a wide range of organizations, from legal aid services to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, and has awarded grants totaling more than $550,000 to a diverse group of community organizations, ranging from Idaho Legal Aid Services’ Farm Labor Contractor Law Enforcement Project to New York Lawyers for the Public Interest’s Civilian Oversight Policing Project .

Last year was a banner year for the PILF Auction; it brought together nearly 350 alumni, faculty, and students for a fun and entertaining evening that raised over $40,000. As we build on last year’s success, we hope that you will join us for another memorable evening on March 1!
The silent auction begins at 7, live auction at 8 pm.  For more information, please see www.columbiapilfauction.org.
