Columbia Real Estate Law Society (CRELS)

Columbia's Real Estate Law Society (CRELS) is the law school's only organization that serves students interested in real estate law, transactions, financing, litigation, development and the real estate industry in general. CRELS fosters dialogue between real estate professionals, professors, and Columbia Law students so its members gain exposure to the inner workings of the professional real estate world and the nuanced legal structure that serves as its foundation.

Columbia Society for Legal Practice in Spanish (CSLPS)

Currently Inactive

CSLPS pursues four main purposes within the community of the Columbia Law School: (i) to promote the understanding and appropriate use of legal Spanish; (ii) to provide students opportunities to develop the language skills to comfortably use Spanish in a legal setting; (iii) to promote the understanding of the civil law tradition and help students to better understand the legal systems of some territories of the United States, such as Louisiana and Puerto Rico; and (iv) to offer students a wide range of legal Spanish and civil law-related academic and professional development opportunities by organizing networking events, lectures, panel discussions, and social events.

Columbia Society of International Law (CSIL)

The Columbia Society of International Law is Columbia Law School’s principal student group dedicated to issues involving international law. The society informs its members about opportunities to practice international law and current issues in international law; provides members in-person access to many of the top international firms; allows members the opportunity to meet leading scholars in the field; offers guidance and advice on career paths in the fields of public and private international law; and provides opportunities for American and international law students and alumni to form connections with each other that span the globe.

Columbia Workers' Rights Student Coalition

The Workers’ Rights Student Coalition (WRSC) is composed of students who care about justice in the workplace. Issues of poverty, racism, gender, globalization, immigration, sexual orientation, and disability are at the core of the group's aims to empower workers. WRSC’s goal is to educate the Law School community about labor and employment issues to improve workplace conditions and create a more just and equitable world.

Community for Immigrant Empowerment at Columbia Law School

The Community for Immigrant Empowerment (CIE, formerly known as SIRR) at Columbia Law School is dedicated to uplifting immigrant communities both on and off campus. Through local community partnerships, we offer law students hands-on direct service opportunities while hosting events that amplify immigrant voices across New York City. Above all, we strive to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for immigrants on campus.

Connecting Caribbean and African Law Students

Connecting Caribbean and African Law Students (CCALS) is a vibrant student organization that celebrates and uplifts the African and Caribbean legal communities and those with an interest in the regions. Grounded in four pillars—networking within the diaspora, cultural celebration, regional legal engagement, and community connection—CCALS fosters academic, professional, and cultural exchange among students and the broader African and Caribbean legal networks in New York and beyond.

Criminal Justice Action Network (CJAN)

Currently Inactive

CJAN is dedicated to criminal justice reform and/or abolition. Our mission is to facilitate conversation about criminal justice issues, provide criminal justice career development opportunities, and encourage students to work towards changing/ending the carceral system. CJAN sponsors guest panels on careers in criminal justice, policy developments, and the intersection of criminal justice with other topics, such as immigration. CJAN also sponsors several spring break caravans domestically and puts on the CJAN Mock Trial and Abolition Symposium.

DeVinimus is the Columbia Law Wine Society. We host a series of tastings and social events throughout the year to educate law students about the world of wine and expand the palates of wine novices and enthusiasts alike.
