Join Professor Riti Singh Thursday, March 26th to learn about the Pro Bono Scholars program for 3L students in their Spring 2027 term.  Jerome Greene Hall - Room 105 from 12:10 to 1:10  pm. Lunch will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Please register for the event at this LINK to prevent food waste. 

Columbia Pro Bono Scholars who are seeking admission to the NYS Bar and are interested in public interest or service will have the opportunity to:

  • Take the New York bar exam in February 2027

  • Devote 12 weeks of their final spring semester in law school to a law school experiential learning program in which they will provide pro bono legal assistance and participate in closely-related classes at their law schools (for a total of approximately 520 hours)

  • Receive expedited review of their applications to the bar, if they pass the bar exam; and,

  • Be eligible for admission to practice in New York in July or August 2027, if they pass the bar exam, successfully complete the PBSP and all other graduation requirements, and complete the character and fitness requirements. 

Students unable to attend can view a recording that will be sent via email and also available on the Pro Bono Scholars webpage after the event. Applications for the 2027 PBSP class will open on April 8, 2026 and are due by April 20, 2026 by 5 pm.  Interviews will be scheduled for April 24 and 28.  Acceptance notifications will be issued on May 15.
