Overcoming Embedded Injustice: A Vision for Radical Change

Join us for an important conversation exploring the roots of inequality and how we can achieve meaningful, lasting reform. Professor and ACLU President, Deborah Archer (Dividing Lines) paints a stark picture of America’s built environment, detailing how infrastructure like highways and zoning codes have been weaponized to divide marginalized neighborhoods and restrict access to safety, equity and economic opportunity. Alongside her, Professor Susan Sturm (What Might Be) offers a blueprint for dismantling and rebuilding our civic, legal, and educational institutions from the ground up to ensure they serve everyone equally. Both authors tackle the hard truth that inequality is not a glitch, but a feature of systems designed to avoid accountability.

Guided by moderator Professor Dennis Fan, Archer and Sturm will discuss how to harness the power of community insight, drive reform through public participation, and transform policy and law into powerful engines for equity.
