The Human Rights Institute at Columbia Law School invites you to a conversation with Nawid Cina, a human rights leader and current LL.M. candidate at Columbia Law School, on leadership and practice in the human rights field.
Drawing on his experience across humanitarian response, human rights advocacy, institutional reform, and policy work, Nawid will reflect on his work supporting vulnerable communities in Afghanistan, including leading large-scale crisis response efforts following the fall of Kabul in 2021. He will also draw on his experience advancing institutional human rights based reform within the Australian Defence Force through his work at the Australian Human Rights Commission to share practical advocacy lessons.
The conversation will explore how human rights principles are applied in complex and rapidly evolving contexts, the challenges of navigating crisis and post-crisis environments, and the role of leadership in advancing meaningful and sustainable change.
