The Columbia Scholars Program offers those seeking a bridge to legal academia an early, post-graduate opportunity to prepare a substantial piece of scholarship while they begin their law practice, clerkship, and/or doctoral program applications. Scholars must be nominated by a faculty advisor who commits to providing active supervision. The program is designed to be short-term, ranging from one month to a year (renewable at the faculty mentor’s discretion).
Core Components:
- A supervised research and writing project and/or preparation to apply to graduate programs or fellowships.
- The option to conduct research for their faculty advisor.
- An introduction to the intellectual life of legal academia. In addition to receiving mentorship and access to library resources, scholars are invited to attend selected workshops at the Law School.
