Working in teams of two or four, students design an appellate advocacy problem or a memorandum problem to be used by first-year students in the following academic year. Students draft a record and a bench memorandum to be used by faculty and moot court judges.
In the workshop, students build upon the writing and research skills and the knowledge of appellate advocacy that they gained in the first year of law school. They receive intensive instruction in developing effective moot court problems, and editing written work. They develop a strong understanding of legal procedure as well. Students further develop the skills of clear and effective advocacy through writing assignments related to their moot court problems. Students edit each other's written work under the guidance of the instructor.
