Section Description
***This course is for ELLM students only*** This course is about international commercial law and practices, focusing primarily on those International business transactions encountered most frequently around the international sale of goods (CISG), including the carriage of goods by sea, international payments (letters of credit), and secured financing (standby letters of credit and asset-based financing). The course also covers the methods of settling international commercial disputes, including international litigation and arbitration. Teaching and learning this subject rests on a problem-oriented method relying on the active participation of students with diverse legal backgrounds, seeking to attune students to their professional responsibilities and ethical duties as they navigate legal systems with which they are not necessarily familiar.
