Section 001 Information
Section Description
Maximum total of 3 credits in a term and 4 credits in an academic year may be earned as part of the 18 non-class points allowed for J.D. credit (see Rules 1.1 and 1.5) for registrations under L6683 and L6689.
L6689 - Supervised Research Paper: Course Related: Students seeking academic credit for extra research and writing in conjunction with a seminar or course should register under Supervised Research Paper: Course Related and satisfy the requirements as described in Rule 1.5. Normally, the cap for this work is 1 or 2 points, depending on the length and scope of the additional written work. Typically to earn one extra point a student would need to submit a paper that is 10-15 pages longer than the written work the instructor requires for the course.
This registration category is available to JD and LLM candidates, and to full-time degree candidates from other Columbia graduate divisions who are registered for a Law course evaluated by written work and are seeking to earn an extra point of credit in conjunction with a seminar or course.
