Enrollment requires satisfactory completion of the Lawyering in the Digital Age Clinic (L9269) and permission of instructor. Major or minor writing credit available.
Students who have successfully completed a semester in the Lawyering in the Digital Age Clinic may apply for enrollment in the Advanced Lawyering in the Digital Age Clinic (Advanced Clinic). In the Advanced Clinic, students will continue working on their projects and cases. Additionally, they may, among other activities, take on added responsibilities to more deeply explore topics that intersect with the clinic curriculum, expand the reach of projects and the clinic generally to improve access to justice, or facilitate the replication of their work in its current or other contexts.
All work will be closely supervised by the Clinic co-directors. Supervision and reflection will take place in supervision sessions and through written assignments. Depending on the nature of the topic under review and the number of students involved, advanced students will participate in seminar sessions with or beyond those offered to first-semester students. Where appropriate, Advanced Clinic students will work with first-semester students to pass on lessons learned, speed the learning curve for new students and assist in the transfer of responsibilities for project work. Students will typically leverage their understanding of the project and mastery of relevant software to enrich services provided to our clients and realize transferrable aspects of their learning to future practice settings.
