Section Description
This course will introduce students to the basic doctrines and principles of U.S. intellectual property law, focusing on patents, copyright and trademark law. The class discussion will emphasize the scope, architecture and rationale for different doctrines, their interaction with new technological developments, and the ways in which these doctrines have come to be created, reformed and updated over the course of the last century.
Professor Balganesh will be selecting students from the waitlist.
I am open to moving 2L and 3L students who are currently on the waitlist into the class (subject to space opening up) if they are interested in writing a paper (~8,000-10,000 words) for the class in lieu of the exam.
If students wish to avail themselves of this option, they should (a) get in touch with me to let me know of their interest in exercising this option along with a proposed paper topic, and (b) send me a developed paper proposal on a topic in the field of intellectual property no later than January 5, 2024. This option is not available to 1L students
