Reunion Fund-raising Jumps 325%

Columbia Law School announced that Reunion giving tripled in 2007, shattering  last year’s total of $3.64 million. At the conclusion of the three-day weekend celebration on May 17-19, which included panel discussions, building tours, and a School-wide dance at Lerner Hall, a figure of $11.8 million was announced.

In addition, four classes broke fund-raising records, including the Class of 1962, at $2.14 million (up 36 percent); the Class of 1977, at $3.26 million (up 110 percent); the Class of 1982, at $2.13 million (up 56 percent); and the Class of 2002, at $70,310 (up 21 percent).

Hundreds of alumni and their guests braved the cool, damp weather to meet former classmates and participate in the scheduled activities. The panels, on topics varying from IP law to Chinese law, re-engaged alumni with the Law School’s intellectual atmosphere, while the walking tours introduced attendees to state-of-the-art classrooms, a new residence hall, and the vibrant Morningside Heights neighborhood.

Columbia Law School, in year three of its capital campaign set to end in 2011, has raised nearly half of its $300 million goal. The campaign is an integral part of a University-wide campaign with a goal of $4 billion.
