Public Interest Award Goes to Dean Chapnick

Ellen Chapnick, dean for social justice initiatives, has been awarded the Abley Pro Bono Achievement Award by Sanctuary for Families's Center for Battered Women's Legal Services at a reception at Davis Polk & Wardwell. In presenting the award, Dorchen Leidholdt, director of the center and a lecturer-in-law at Columbia Law School, said that it was given in recognition of Dean Chapnick's "tireless dedication to providing access to justice for victims of domestic violence and for underscoring for law students, the importance of and the commitment to pro bono legal services." In addition, Karenna Gore Schiff ‘00, a member of Sanctuary's board, presented another Ably Award, in memoriam, to Senator Paul and Sheila Wellstone.
