The Millstein Center Names Rising Stars of Corporate Governance for 2015

Award Recognizes Global Corporate Governance Professionals Under 40 Who Are Making Their Mark

New York, December 10, 2015—The Ira M. Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School has announced the recipients of its seventh annual Rising Star of Corporate Governance Award. The award recognizes global corporate governance professionals under the age of 40 who are making their mark as outstanding analysts, experts, directors, managers, or advocates. The awardees were honored at the tenth annual Millstein Governance Forum on December 10 at Columbia University. The 2015 Rising Stars of Corporate Governance awardees are:

  • Ahmed Abdel-Meguid, Chair, Department of Accounting, Associate Professor, The American University in Cairo
  • Richard Fields, Principal, Tapestry Networks
  • Meryam Omi, Head of Sustainability, Legal & General Investment Management
  • Nermeen Shehata, Visiting Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting, The American University in Cairo
"This year’s awardees are truly an outstanding group of leaders. Representing business and academia, and hailing from three continents, these rising stars are making a difference,” said Ira M. Millstein, Founding Chair of the Millstein Center Advisory Board.  “The talent of these individuals, and the passion they bring to their work, inspires me and should serve as a reminder to us all that our actions do matter and our work can and does have impact."
 
The 2015 Rising Star of Corporate Governance Award recipients were nominated by their peers and selected by a committee of global leaders who are previous awardees. The selection process is based on criteria such as past accomplishments and thought leadership, future projects and endeavors, leadership and character, and potential to influence the industry.
