International Human Rights Attorney Sarah Knuckey to Join Faculty

Dean David M. Schizer announced today that international human rights lawyer Sarah Knuckey, currently with the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice at NYU, will join the Columbia Law School faculty this summer as director of the Human Rights Clinic, co-director of the Human Rights Institute, and Lieff Cabraser Associate Clinical Professor of Law.
“Sarah will be a wonderful leader for this important program, which is such a valuable asset to our community," said Dean David M. Schizer, the Lucy G. Moses Professor of Law and Harvey R. Miller Professor of Law and Economics.
Knuckey brings with her a breadth of experience in international human rights lawyering. She currently serves as special advisor to the U.N. special rapporteur on extrajudicial executions.
A graduate of Harvard Law School (LL.M.) and the University of Western Australia (LL.B., B.A.), Knuckey has conducted fact-finding missions and reported on human rights violations in Afghanistan, Colombia, Brazil, and the U.S., among other places.
