Dean David M. Schizer Receives Honorary Degree From Jewish Theological Seminary

New York, May 29, 2009 —David M. Schizer, Dean and the Lucy G. Moses Professor of Law www.law.columbia.edu/fac/David_Schizer, was awarded an honorary degree of doctor of laws, honoris causa, from the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in New York on May 21. 

“Through your educational leadership at Columbia Law School, you have helped shape the legal landscape of the nation,” Arnold M. Eisen, JTS’ Chancellor, told Schizer. “You have been an eloquent voice in stressing the importance of ethical decision-making and wise leadership by those in the legal field, and their crucial role as guardians of the rule of law – a pillar of American civilization.”

Schizer accepted the award during the Seminary's 115th Commencement Exercises.
