Patricio Martinez-Llompart

Patricio G. Martínez Llompart '18 serves as Senior Counsel to the Mayor of New York City and City Hall, where he advises the Mayor and senior policymakers on a broad range of legal and operational matters, including litigation strategy, investigations, ethics and conflicts questions, and crisis management. He counsels City Hall staff on legal issues arising from the design and implementation of mayoral initiatives and also advises City agencies that report to the Chief Counsel.

Previously, Patricio worked in private practice at KKL LLP in New York City and Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C. His practice focused on representing individuals and institutions in federal white-collar criminal litigation, government investigations, and other sensitive regulatory and cross-border matters, ranging from insider trading to foreign bribery. He also represented clients in appeals before the U.S. Supreme Court and several U.S. Courts of Appeals.  

Patricio clerked for the late Judge Juan R. Torruella on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and for Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell '83 on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Before law school, he worked in state and local government as a deputy advisor for public safety and justice to the Governor of Puerto Rico and as a New York City Urban Fellow. He also serves as co-chair of the New York City Bar Association's Task Force on Puerto Rico. Patricio graduated from Columbia Law School in 2018, where he was Executive Essays & Reviews Editor of the Columbia Law Review, and earned his B.A. summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in 2013 from Cornell University, where he was a Merrill Presidential Scholar and recipient of the Lang Prize for the best thesis in U.S. History and American Studies.
