Patricio G. Martínez Llompart '18 is an attorney at KKL LLP, a boutique litigation firm in New York City where he represents individuals and institutions facing federal criminal charges, government investigations, high-stakes civil litigation, and sensitive cross-border matters.  He has represented clients in matters involving the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Federal Trade Commission, and various state attorneys general.  Patricio has also represented clients in appellate litigation before the U.S. Supreme Court and various U.S. Courts of Appeals.  He has handled matters across a wide range of subjects, ranging from fraud and insider trading to foreign bribery and violations of anti-terrorism laws.  
Previously, Patricio worked as an associate in the appellate and white-collar groups at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington D.C.  He was also a law clerk to the late Judge Juan R. Torruella on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and Chief Judge Beryl A. Howell '83 on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.  Before law school, Patricio served as a deputy advisor for public safety and justice to the Governor of Puerto Rico and as an Urban Fellow at the NYPD Office for Collaborative Policing.
Patricio is active in professional service, serving as co-chair of the New York City Bar Association's Task Force on Puerto Rico and as a member of the Líderes Young Professional Board of LatinoJustice PRLDEF.
He graduated in 2018 from Columbia Law School, where he served as Executive Essays & Reviews Editor of the Columbia Law Review.  He received his undergraduate degree in 2013, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Cornell University, where he was a Merrill Presidential Scholar and recipient of the Lang Prize for the Best Thesis in U.S. History and American Studies.
