Jean Stevens is the Director of the Benefits Law Project at Volunteers of Legal Service. Prior to VOLS, she practiced eviction defense at Legal Services NYC - Brooklyn in the Right to Counsel/Housing unit as a staff attorney and supervising attorney, litigating in New York Civil and Supreme Courts. 

Jean is active in the Brooklyn Tenant Lawyers Network, where she co-founded the Gender Justice Committee and served as Co-Chair of the Steering Committee. She is also active in the New York City Bar Association Civil Right to Counsel Task Force, the Mindfulness & Wellbeing in the Law Committee, and the Legal Problems of the Aging Committee. 

Jean received her law degree from The City University of New York School of Law in 2013 and her B.S./B.A. degrees from Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse School of Communications and College of Arts & Sciences.
