Janis M. Meyer is a partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP where she advises lawyers on legal ethics and law firm risk management and governance issues. She was previously a partner at White & Case and was a partner and the General Counsel at Dewey Ballantine and its successor Dewey & LeBoeuf, where she served as a member of the wind-down committee that oversaw the firm's bankruptcy filing and subsequent wind-down. She speaks frequently on issues relating to legal ethics and law firm risk management. Ms. Meyer clerked for the Honorable George C. Pratt in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. She has a B.A. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, an M.A. from The Ohio State University and a J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. She is a former chair and currently a member of the Hofstra University Board of Trustees.
