Ilan Nissan is the Head of Private Equity and Mergers and Acquisitions business at Goodwin Procter. Mr. Nissan’s clients include the most sophisticated and well-known asset managers in the world including top-tier private equity and venture capital funds, hedge funds, family offices and multi-strategy investors. Mr. Nissan also represents a number of "A" list celebrities in their investing and related activities.
Nissan's practices and experiences include counseling of private equity and hedge funds, boards of directors, CEOs, and executive management on strategic business and legal issues, and execution of business plans. He has worked in this capacity in an array of fields, including manufacturing, oil and gas, chemicals, entertainment, technology, consulting, health care, retail, and various product distribution businesses. Nissan has substantial international experience on cross-border acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures.
Regularly quoted in The Wall Street Journal and other financial and popular press, Nissan has appeared as a commentator on Bloomberg Cable Television, Bloomberg Radio, and other media outlets. He is a frequent lecturer and panelist at private equity and hedge fund conferences.
Previously, Mr. Nissan was Chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at O’Melveny & Myers. Mr. Nissan also was a partner at O’Sullivan Graev & Karabell LLP and began his career with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, each in New York City.
Mr. Nissan has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America Best Lawyers for his work in Leveraged Buyouts and Private Equity Law 2022.

Nissan received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law in 1988 and graduated from Albany State University in 1985.
