Ilan Nissan is a partner in the Private Equity Group at Goodwin Procter. Nissan's practices and experiences include counseling of private equity and hedge funds, boards of directors, CEOs, and executive management on strategic business and legal issues, and execution of business plans. He has worked in this capacity in an array of fields, including manufacturing, oil and gas, chemicals, entertainment, technology, consulting, health care, retail, and various product distribution businesses. Nissan has substantial international experience on cross-border acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures.
Regularly quoted in The Wall Street Journal and other financial and popular press, Nissan has appeared as a commentator on Bloomberg Cable Television, Bloomberg Radio, and other media outlets. He is a frequent lecturer and panelist at private equity and hedge fund conferences.
Nissan previously served as chair of the mergers and acquisitions group at O’Melveny & Myers. He has been recognized as a leading lawyer for mergers and acquisitions transactions by Legal 500 US, as a leading lawyer for private equity by International Financial Law Review, and as a leading lawyer for leveraged buyouts and private equity law by Best Lawyers.
Nissan received his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law in 1988 and graduated from Albany State University in 1985.
