George Wang

Xiangnong (George) Wang is a staff attorney at the Knight First Amendment Institute and a lecturer in law at Columbia Law School. His work focuses on the ways that new technologies shape public discourse, on the rights of noncitizens, and on the exchange of ideas across borders.

Wang first joined the Knight Institute as a legal fellow before serving as a law clerk to the Hon. William J. Kayatta, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He is a graduate of Stanford University and Yale Law School. During law school, Wang was a student director of the Media Freedom & Information Access Clinic, co-chair of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, and a Coker Fellow. He also worked on research related to improving diversity and equity in the legal profession as a member of the Portrait of Asian Americans in the Law project. He has been published in the Wisconsin Law Review, the Journal of Legal Education, and Just Security.
