Eric S. Askanase is a commercial litigator and entertainment attorney. Askanase focuses on complex national and international litigation. He has represented clients in a broad range of commercial disputes including financial, real estate, healthcare, media, and intellectual property matters.
Askanase is actively involved in the New York theatrical community and maintains a niche practice advising authors, playwrights, composers and commercial producers on publishing, production, and rights-related issues. Askanase is a member of the Broadway League and the Dramatists Guild; and prior to joining the bar, he worked in the literary and theatrical department of a major New York talent agency.
Askanase clerked for the Honorable William J. Martini in the District of New Jersey and is a dual qualified U.S. attorney and solicitor in the courts of England and Wales (non-practicing).
Askanase earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2003, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, a John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics and an articles editor on the Columbia Business Law Review.
