Deadline: Millstein Public Service Fellowship (J.D.s)

Nov 2026
29

This fellowship honors Jim Millstein ’82, who served as the Chief Restructuring Officer in the U.S. Department of Treasury during the financial crisis of 2008, and his father, Ira Millstein ’49, who founded the Systemic Risk Council, a private sector initiative to ensure that legislators and regulators remain vigilant in addressing the underlying causes of the crisis. This fellowship provides a stipend to recent Columbia Law School graduates to do substantive legal work at a government placement. The fellowship prioritizes placements with the U.S. federal government's executive or legislative branches and work that focuses on law and economics, but work in local or state government and/or outside of the law and economics focus will be considered. Applications for 2027 are due November 29, 2026.

The fellowship is open solely to the Columbia Law School J.D. Classes of 2027 and some Columbia Law School graduates. Please review the application for more information on graduate eligibility.
