Invitation Requests for Visa Purposes
If you need an invitation letter as a supportive document to obtain visas for travel so you or your family can attend Class Day or Commencement ceremonies, please complete this form.

You must complete your Tassel Form to be eligible for free rental regalia (gown and hood total of $118). Students are responsible for paying for their own tam (the cap $80), which is yours to keep! Failure to complete your tassel form will prohibit you from ordering your graduation regalia.
Once you have completed your tassel, you may visit the Columbia Bookstore beginning Tuesday, February 18th located at 2922 Broadway to order your free rental regalia. If you are unable to visit the bookstore, please email the following information to the bookstore at [email protected]. The deadline for ordering your regalia is Thursday, April 2nd, 2025 by 11:59pm.

A tam is required and can do so by clicking here. Be sure to provide your order number in the email to the bookstore.
Regalia distribution will begin on Monday, April 28th, 2024, for those students who ordered by April 2nd only. Any orders that were made on or after April 3rd, pick-up date and time will be communicated directly to you by the bookstore. Regalia must be returned to the bookstore no later than Friday, May 30th, 2025.
If you would like to purchase your own regalia, please email the bookstore [email protected] directly. This takes 8 weeks and the deadline to order is March 14th, 2025.
Columbia Law School Class Day Tickets (May 18th):
For JDs Only: If you are unable to claim a ticket, make sure that you have completed your Pro Bono requirement AND the Private Sector Employment Survey.

To request extra tickets, please log back onto Tassel and click on update my details. You can click through the form until you reach the additional tickets portion. Please enter how many additional tickets you would like to request.
University Commencement Tickets (May 21st):
Deadline: May 20, 2025
Students will have two (2) tickets for the University Commencement. Students will not be able to request additional tickets for the University Commencement.
We are excited to celebrate your achievements at Columbia University’s Commencement Ceremony on May 21, 2025. To attend the ceremony, graduates must register for e-tickets for themselves and their guests. Guest e-tickets are required for everyone over the age of three.
Registration Details:
● Law students may reserve up to two (2) guest e-tickets, beginning April 16 at 8:00 a.m.
● Student Entry: Ticket Scanning will take place at 120th St. between Broadway & Amsterdam starting at 7:30 a.m. After entry, you will find your school’s line-up location for the student procession to Low Plaza.
● Guests: Seating on the South Lawn is limited. Once capacity is reached, alternative viewing locations will be available for registration. We encourage you to register early.
● Deadline to register: May 20, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.
How to Claim Your University Commencement. Graduate students may reserve up to two (2) guest e-tickets, beginning Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

- One (1) graduate e-ticket (for yourself)
- One (1) guest e-ticket per guest you registered
- Important: Graduates are responsible for distributing guest tickets directly to their guests.
On Commencement Day:
● Confirmation emails will contain QR codes, which serve as entry passes for University Commencement.
● Screenshot your QR code in advance and encourage your guests to do the same to ensure access in case of limited Wi-Fi or cellular service at the venue.
● Each QR code can only be scanned once.
● Pack light! Bags, backpacks, and purses larger than 5x7 inches are not permitted. Anyone entering the campus will be subject to a bag check at entry.
● For guests unable to attend, a live webcast of the University Commencement ceremony will be available for online viewing on the day of the event.
By participating in the University Commencement ceremony and/or your School Ceremony, all participants are giving consent to being photographed, filmed, and recorded. Please note that these recordings may be shared publicly and made available online for viewing after the event.
