Section Description
This course concerns philosophical issues that arise in connection with the criminal law governing homicide. The course is divided primarily among different types of homicide (such as intentional murder, manslaughter, felony murder, negligent homicide, euthanasia, etc.), but also concerns philosophically interesting adjacent issues (causation, police violence, etc.). In each case, we will engage primarily with philosophical articles, but also with cases, statutes and entrenched legal practices.
