Every year, the PI/PS Office honors graduating students who devoted themselves to the public interest while at Columbia. This year's 178 honorees included students who spent two summers in public interest, completed 100+ pro bono hours, are entering public interest directly after graduation, and more.
We also honored Distinguished Graduate José G. Miranda '17 of Innovation Law Lab (formerly of the International Refugee Assistance Project). In a moving speech, José discussed the importance of movement lawyering and, citing Mariame Kaba, provided tips on how students can maintain the "discipline" of hope in today's political moment. He was introduced by Professor Dennis Fan.
