William Savitt

William Savitt is a partner in the Litigation Department of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, where he specializes in mergers and acquisitions, proxy contests, corporate governance disputes, class actions involving allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, and regulatory enforcement actions relating to corporate transactions. Savitt writes and speaks extensively on corporate and securities law topics.

Savitt is a member of the board of trustees of the Columbia Law Review. He has clerked for the Honorable Pierre N. Leval of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

He earned a J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1997, where he was editor-in-chief of the Columbia Law Review. He holds a M.Phil., degree from Columbia University and a B.A. from Brown University.
