Apply for a spot in Columbia Law School’s Academic Fellows Program! The Program is accepting applications starting September 1, 2023, for the July 1, 2024 start date. Acceptance to the Program takes place on a rolling basis, so submit your application materials promptly after the application window opens. We look forward to reviewing your application.

Please complete and submit an online application using the online application form on this page. Supporting documents listed below, other than recommenders’ letters, must be uploaded in PDF format via this online application. Reach us by email at [email protected] for additional information.

  1. Cover letter.
  2. Curriculum vitae.
  3. Research and teaching agenda, which should discuss in detail the academic projects you plan to undertake as an Academic Fellow, as well as any relevant teaching experience.
  4. Scholarly writing sample that demonstrates your writing and analytical abilities, as well as your ability to generate interesting, original ideas.
  5. Official transcripts from all law schools attended.
  6. Up to three letters of recommendation, of which at least two must be from professors who can comment on your scholarly potential, proposed research projects, and teaching experience. Many recommenders prefer to submit letters directly. In that case, please list their names on your application and ask them to submit their letters by email to [email protected]. Letters should be in PDF format.
