What's There to Hide? Ag-Gag Laws, the Food Industry, and the First Amendment

Please join SALDF and WRSC for a panel for a special panel discussion on the implications of Ag-Gag laws, which outlaw the taking of photos and videos on industrial farms that would document animal abuse as well as workers' rights violations and environmental problems.

Panelists include:

  • Timothy Pachirat, author of "Every Twelve Seconds: Industrialized Slaughterand the Politics of Sight" and Assistant Professor of Politics at the New School for Social Research.
  • Gabe Rottman, Legislative Counsel and Policy Advisor in the ACLU's Washington Legislative Office, focusing on the First Amendment.
  • Suzanne McMillan, Director, Farm Animal Welfare Campaign, ASPCA.
  • Mickey Osterreicher, veteran photojournalist and General Counsel for the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA).
  • Cody Carlson, journalist and former investigator for Mercy for Animals and the Humane Society of the United States.
