The most wonderful part of what we do every day is interact with you, our exceptionally talented, thoughtful, and passionate students.
We in Student Services work hard to offer our students opportunities to expand their learning experience beyond the classroom, provide our students with all sorts of ways to explore their interests and passions, support our students with guidance and advice on academic and other issues, and to make living and learning at Columbia and in New York as warm, smooth, supportive, and fun as possible.
I hope you will take some time and explore all that we do, but I want to highlight some of the ways in which we can work with you during your time at Columbia and beyond. We have more than 100 student organizations and 14 student journals. You can use the site to explore all of these, see what events they are planning, and learn how to join. For those of you running these organizations and journals, there are resources to assist you.
We offer a robust academic counseling, success, and support program, through focused one-on-one counseling and advice and a slate of programs and panels throughout the year. We also have peer mentoring programs to help you build community and connect to others during your time here. We offer a faculty mentoring program and a faculty-student intellectual life series to help you connect with faculty and explore academic interests and passions outside of the classroom setting.
We are fortunate to be able to guarantee housing to all our students, and invite you to take some time and explore the housing options available to our students. Whether you are just looking for housing for the first time or thinking of transferring or subletting, there are resources here to help you.
We also want to help with everything else to make your life at Columbia and New York all that it can be. We offer health and wellness resources, information about great events going on in New York, discounts on all sorts of things, information about connecting to faith communities around the campus and the city, and a host of other information.
We always want to hear from you and learn from you. Ask us a question, tell us how we can help you, and come in to see us. You can email us at [email protected], or call us at 212-854-2395. I look forward to getting to know each of you personally, so please stop by!
Warmest regards,
Yadira Ramos-Herbert
