Columbia Law School’s summer funding program, one of the largest in the nation, is an integral part of preparing to practice law.
Social Justice Initiatives oversees the two largest summer funding programs for law students in the U.S.:
(available to all J.D. students)
These programs give students the opportunity to receive funding and explore legal practice while providing greatly needed assistance to a wide range of organizations and government agencies in the United States and around the world.
Social Justice Initiatives is able to provide a limited number of stipends to 2L students who are experiencing financial difficulties that are impeding their ability to assume summer positions in public interest/public service organizations. Priority will be given to those students who show a significant financial hardship, demonstrate a substantial commitment to public interest and government work, and are working outside of the NYC metro area.
