In 2019-2020, Columbia Law and NYU Law will allow a limited number of students to take courses at each other’s schools. Approximately 20 students from each school will be eligible for this opportunity this academic year. Students are permitted to take only one course at the other school during their academic career.
Both Columbia Law and NYU Law students must use the online request form to apply. For Fall 2019, the application period opens on August 19th at 12:00pm.
For Fall 2019, the preliminary deadline to submit a request is at 5 p.m. on August 21st. You will be notified by 5 p.m. on August 23rd if your application has been approved. Requests received by the preliminary deadline will be considered first and will be selected randomly with J.D. 3L and LL.M. students having priority. After that date, if space is available, additional students may apply on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note that this program is open only to Columbia Law degree candidates.
Columbia Law students interested in taking a class at NYU Law should review the list of available courses, as well as the course descriptions and schedules, before completing the request form.
NYU Law classes begin August 28th. You may attend the first class at NYU if you receive notification that you are approved, even if you are not yet officially registered.
Please note that after the first month of the semester, permission to drop a course (including an NYU course) will be granted only for compelling and unusual personal circumstances.
