The Columbia Law School Latinx Law Students Association (LaLSA) celebrated the accomplishments of students and alumni at its 15th Annual Awards Banquet at the Columbia University Club of New York on October 11, 2019.
LaLSA presented Distinguished Alumni Awards to Jeannine Acevedo ’05, partner at White & Case LLP, and Myrna Pérez ’03, director of the Brennan Center for Justice’s Voting Rights and Elections program. The Rising Star Award was presented to Julia Gomez ’13, staff attorney at the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund.
LaLSA’s mission is to promote understanding of the Latinx community by sponsoring academic, professional, cultural, social, and community service activities for its members as well as Columbia Law School’s general student body. LaLSA serves as a liaison between Latinx students and the Columbia Law School administration, the general student body, alumni, and other professionals in the legal field.
