Jonathan Kim is a Practicing Fellow at the Ira M. Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School, where his focus is on corporate governance.
He is a Chief Legal Officer and Director with over two decades of broad-based public company experience in the U.S. and internationally.
Prior to his affiliation with the Center, Jonathan was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Bermuda-based Montpelier Re Holdings Ltd. (NYSE:MRH) and the Montpelier Group of companies. Jonathan has worked for a Wall Street law firm, where his focus was on corporate and capital markets, structured finance, and restructurings and workouts. His background includes experience in the insurance, asset management, investment advisory, Internet strategy, and government sectors, and as an entrepreneur he has advised start-up entities in the professional service and entertainment industries. Jonathan has worked extensively with public company boards of directors and institutional, private equity, and hedge fund investors.
In addition to his legal and management background, Jonathan has counseled and served on boards of directors, including at the Chairman level, in both the private and not-for-profit sectors.
Jonathan obtained his bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature from Brown University, his MBA with a dual concentration in Finance and Strategy from the Yale University School of Management, and his JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
